Event Services Manager
JOB TITLE: Event Services Manager
REPORTS TO: Manager of Events
JOB STATUS: Regular, Full-Time
The Event Services Manager is responsible for servicing, promoting, and providing positive guest experiences for all events. A qualified candidate will bring a collaborative approach and deep understanding of venue guest services and customer experience to the role. This position will manage the guest services team and security team, in-house and third party or both, while frequently interacting with guests, fans and clients. This individual will also work directly with all departments to provide a best-in-class customer experience for all events and daily operations. This is a guest facing role so excellent communication skills are necessary to deliver a memorable experience to a diverse group of guests and clients.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of supervisory principles with an emphasis on working with and training “casual” staff. Demonstrated knowledge of Event Services and Events is a bonus.
- Self-motivated, friendly, professional, responsible and dependable. Able to communicate effectively and work as a team player with all departments, outside contractors and employees.
- Possesses problem solving skills and an ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment with promoters, the public and staff members.
- Must be able to work flexible and sometimes demanding schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Proficient in MS Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook etc)
- Competent as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario)
- Three years similar experience preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead Canada Life Place event staffing and security teams at all events, including managing a staff of more than 175+ employees.
- Manages the hiring, training, supervising and retaining of Event Staff; coordinate Staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies. Implement discipline and termination procedures as required.
- Developing and updating Supervisor’s and Event Services Manuals as required.
- Design and implement effective guest services strategies to provide exceptional services to the facilities guests and patrons.
- Prepares and executes Event Services Plan for each event. Includes cost estimates and staffing levels as dictated by size of events and budgets provided.
- Schedule and supervise Event Supervisors, Event Staff and Event Security for each event.
- Liaise with touring security to prepare Event Security Plan for each event, executing Event Security Plan for each event including the scheduling and hiring of third party security, medical and Police Officers.
- Coordinating and communicating all relevant information for assigned events.
- Ensures all guest-facing areas are ‘event-ready’ for doors and public spaces are safe and orderly throughout the event.
- Actively monitor and supervise guest experiences and team member interactions within the Facility during events. Able to demonstrate flexibility and make adjustments as-needed.
- Preparing post event reports with relevant guest experiences, including documentation of all incidents and corrective action plans.
- Proactively provides excellent customer service to external and internal guests. Using resources to resolve issues as they arise.
- Respond to Guest incidents, requests and comments and provide appropriate and professional responses.
- Serves as the escalation point of contact for guest concerns.
- Oversee patrons requests as it aligns with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005.
- Participation in Company committees and initiatives. Take an active role in training all staff as it pertains to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Continually improving Department’s performance and reputation
- Foster and maintain a collaborative relationship with tenant teams and long-standing partnerships.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Events Department Manager or Director of Operations.

Conversion Crew
JOB TITLE: Operations Conversion Crew
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager / Operations Supervisor
JOB STATUS: Casual (Scheduled based on events)
This position requires a multitude of physical tasks associated with converting the facility from between hockey, basketball, concert, or other scheduled events.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Any labour experience is an asset
- Ability to work flexible hours dictated by events, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed with most shifts beginning in the late evening
- Ability to follow basic instructions and direction
- Ability to perform general labour; heavy lifting is required (60 – 80 lbs.)
- Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member
- Safety footwear, hardhat, and long pants are required. Safety glasses and gloves are encouraged.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
- Lay down and pick up event floor
- Remove and reinstall acrylic, glass and dasher boards for event setups as needed
- Setup and breakdown of chairs, tables, basketball floor, staging and risers, concourse, dressing rooms, etc.
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Adhere to all Spectra policies and procedures
- Comply with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Requires significant physical effort including walking and heavy lifting
- Requires utilizing tools and equipment that could cause injury if not handled and operated following safety practices and procedures
- Occasional outdoor work is required
- The noise level in the workplace can range from minimal to loud during events, though minimal during non-event times. PPE for noise protection is provided.
